SUMITOMO product range includes hard metal, cermet, silicon nitride as well as CBN and PCD cutting tools for turning, milling and drilling applications and a range of blanks for tool manufacturers. The self-developed polycrystalline cutting materials SUMIBORON (CBN) and SUMIDIA (PDK) allow increased productivity of hard and dry machining techniques with reduced environmental impact. The feature of one of the latest CBN products is exceptional: it is the first ever CBN insert with integrated chip breaker. With the XHT drill, SUMITOMO enters the area of gundrills and offers higher productivity than conventional single-lip drills or similar machining concepts.

SUMITOMO ELECTRIC Hartmetall GmbH, based in Willich near Düsseldorf, is specialized in developing and manufacturing cutting materials made of solid carbide, cermet, SUMIBORON (CBN) and SUMIDIA (PDK). Ensuring the highest quality of products and services to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction is a key part of the Sumitomo corporate philosophy. The SUMITOMO European Design & Engineering Center (E-DEC) was founded in 2012. Here you can experience the use of tools and systems first hand as part of training courses and practical machine demonstrations.
