The GDX indexable insert drill is characterized by its exceptionally long tool life, a result of innovative technologies and thoughtful design.

 

The Inserts are made from carbide, a material known for its outstanding hardness and wear resistance. These properties significantly contribute to the extended tool life, as the cutting edges stay sharp longer and are less prone to wear.

 


High-Tech carbide inserts for maximum durability

 

The indexable inserts benefit from state-of-the-art coating technology:
• Enables layer thicknesses of up to 12 μm, substantially increasing tool life compared to conventional 4 μm coatings.
• The thicker coating provides enhanced protection against wear and increases the heat resistance of the cutting edges.

 

Optimized Body Design with innovative coolant supply

The GDX indexable insert drill features an internal coolant supply that ensures efficient cooling and chip evacuation. This prevents overheating and wear, which extends the tool’s service life.

 

Material selection and surface treatment

High-quality steel – The GDX drill body is made of high-quality, heat-treated steel (e.g., 1.2344), ensuring exceptional heat resistance and durability.

Schutzschicht – A black oxide coating on the body provides additional corrosion protection and increases the tool’s overall lifespan.

By combining these advanced technologies and design features, the GDX indexable insert drill offers exceptionally long tool life, leading to increased productivity and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing.


 

High-rigidity holder design with exceptional evacuation flute design

Proprietary flute design balances chip evacuation and holder rigidity at a high level. Machining vibration is effectively suppressed and cutting force reduced to realise stable deep hole drilling.

• Additional chambers in the center of the chip breakers control the direction of chip flow.
• The improved chip control reduces stress on the cutting edges and contributes to a longer tool life.

Dedicated Insert Design

The central and peripheral insert designs have been individually optimised, improving stability with the optimal shape and relative positioning. In addition, the wiper flat shape has been optimised to achieve excellent machined surface quality.


 

Insert Combinations

Utilising different chipbreakers for the central and peripheral inserts enables the drilling of stainless steel and general structural rolled steel.
